Well, it's a new year, perhaps I want to change things around a little? As suggested, I did read my writings, and they were not boring at all! But quite long, all of them, which is good for organizational purposes, but not as fun to write, because a whole month worth of recollection felt kind of daunting, and from the dates you can see that each month's digest was mostly completed by the end of the following month. Originally I thought that this delay would give me extra time to more thoroughly "digest" the experience so that I could write about what I got out of the experience, rather than merely summarizing the experience itself. However, I don't think it's realistic to be able to avoid descriptive content entirely, and as a journal, recording is indeed one of the primary purposes, so don't be ashamed of being literal!
But there is one thing I want to try: write more often, and break a month's content into individual shorter articles. Because I want writing to be a habit, but yet, although quite rewarding after finishing a big piece, the writing experience in 2020 has been quite stressful. What I envy is more fun, like how people feel when they tweet. Well that's probably too much of an extreme, plus only the popular ones get the high, I suppose. For a quiet place like this, I'm yet to figure out better ways to make this activity sustainable (which means fun, basically).
So here's one idea: write self-contained, short pieces more often (ideally, within the current month), to reduce the burden of recollection, and hopefully, to transform low-quality, private journal writing to more presentable public writing. Then, if you find it useful, write a summary piece each month that links to all the pieces to build a bigger picture, and possibly, offer deeper insights (no pressure).
And remember, life doesn't have to be always exciting. It can't be. You just have to learn to deal with its varying phases, and forever embrace them. And always learn from the experiences.
